Our Founders
Our Spiritual Founder: Robert E. Lee
Robert E. Lee's one rule at Washington College while serving as president was "we have but one rule here and that is that every student must be a gentleman". Lee emulated this quote in his everyday life through gentility and chivalry which Kappa Alphas still practice to this day. Lee was never an initiated member of Kappa Alpha Order.
Our Practical Founder: Samuel Zenas Ammen
Samuel Zenas Ammen worked diligently on transforming the ritual of Kappa Alpha Order. The ideals established in this improved fraternity was based on an order of Christian knights. Ammen is credited with the decision keep up the effort in the troublesome beginning years as Wood was preparing to leave Lexington for the seminary.
